Happily married with 3 children and a fulfilling career, my life was about to change dramatically in May 2009, when I was diagnosed with breast cancer.
After the initial shock and emotional trauma of telling our children, family and friends, followed 10 months of treatment. I underwent surgery to remove the tumour, 18 weeks of chemotherapy, surgery to remove the affected lymph nodes and 35 sessions of radiotherapy
Having a positive attitude helped me through the treatment, which resulted in total hair loss and all the usual side effects associated with chemotherapy and radiotherapy. One of the main problems I encountered during this time was finding a comfortable post- surgery bra. At one point I resorted to wearing a halter neck bikini top, out of the sheer frustration of being unable to find anything suitable that did not hurt the delicate scar tissue
2 years on, the challenge has moved on, to finding underwear to help me regain my confidence, feel feminine, glamorous and even sexy. This problem is what prompted me to do something to try and help others in my position.
